Reverse description Central field displays the denomination in four lines — 3½ / GULDEN / 2 THALER / 1840 — enclosed within an elaborate wreath of oak leaves and acorns tied at the base with a ribbon bow, rendered in fine relief. The legend VEREINSMÜNZE arches across the top of the field, while the fineness statement VII EINE F.MARK appears in the lower exergue. The toothed border frames the entire composition, and the bold, symmetrical wreath design is characteristic of the South German Vereinsmünze coinage standard established in 1837.
