Additional information

This double thaler was struck during the tenure of the Imperial Diet permanently seated in Regensburg from 1663 onward — the so-called Immerwährender Reichstag, which met continuously in the city until the Empire's dissolution in 1806. Regensburg's status as the Diet's permanent home gave its civic coinage an unusual political weight for a free city of modest economic reach.

KM#218 spans nearly three decades of production, suggesting periodic restrikes rather than continuous minting — double thalers of this type were prestige pieces, not everyday commerce.
