| Obverse description | The obverse displays the ornate civic arms of Halberstadt at centre, depicting an elaborately mantled shield surmounted by a crowned helm from which a mailed fist grasping a sword rises as the crest, the whole framed by luxuriant baroque acanthus scrollwork. The mintmaster's initials CZ appear to the left of the crest. The circular legend, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border and a rope-twist outer border, reads MONETA NOU HALBERST 1631 C Z. |
