| Obverse description | A winged putto stands facing in the centre of the field, arms outstretched, flanked by two elaborate heraldic shields: the imperial double-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire to the left, and the single-headed eagle of the City of Nuremberg to the right. The date in Roman numerals (M·DC·XXVIII on the illustrated example) appears in the lower exergue. The circular Latin legend MONETA NOVA ARGENT· REIPUB· NORIMBERGENSIS runs along the periphery between an inner beaded circle and the outer milled border, interrupted by a cross at the top. |
