Reverse description A large crowned imperial double-headed eagle with spread wings occupies the central field, its breast bearing a shield or orb. The eagle clutches a sword and scepter in its talons, symbols of imperial authority. The crowns above each head are rendered in fine detail characteristic of early seventeenth-century German engraving. The circular Latin legend surrounding the eagle records the titles of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand II, reading as a continuous inscription around the coin's periphery within a beaded border.
