Obverse description Frontal view of the Gothic city church of Hameln with two prominent flanking towers surmounted by crosses and spires, rendered in fine architectural detail. The city arms of Hameln — displaying the characteristic interlaced rings — appear prominently within a cartouche set into the arched entrance portal at the base of the facade. The date 1617 is inscribed in the field above the portal between the two towers. A Latin circumferential legend runs around the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border.
