| Obverse description | Half-length effigy of Elector Frederick William of Brandenburg facing right, attired in elaborately decorated court dress with lace collar. In his raised right hand he holds a sceptre resting upon his shoulder, while his left hand rests upon the hilt of his sword at his waist. The portrait is rendered in a formal Baroque style typical of mid-17th century German coinage. A Latin legend encircles the bust, recording his titles as Margrave of Brandenburg and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire. |
