Obverse description Crude hammered bronze flan bearing a bold Arabic legend in flowing Naskh script occupying the central field, reading 'Struck in Bukhara 1336' (AH). The inscription is arranged in two or three lines and flanked by a decorative border of raised pellets encircling the entire coin, typical of the late Bukharan mint style. Small floral or rosette ornaments are interspersed within the border. The irregular flan and uneven strike are characteristic of hand-hammered coinage produced at the Bukhara mint during the final years of the emirate.
