Reverse description A large eight-pointed Maltese Cross occupies the centre of the coin, its points terminating in a distinctive forked form characteristic of the Order of St. John. Eight small six-pointed stars are arranged symmetrically in the angles between the arms of the cross, filling the inner field. The surrounding circular legend reads +.NVS.MEVM.LEVE.EST. followed by the date 1741, referencing the Biblical phrase from Matthew 11:30. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a reeded outer rim.
