Obverse description Central field features the quartered heraldic shield of the Order of St. John impaled with the arms of Grand Master Giovanni Paolo Lascaris Castellar, surmounted by a crown. The dexter half displays the white cross of the Hospitallers on a plain field, while the sinister half bears the double-headed eagle associated with the Lascaris family. The circular legend surrounding the shield reads the Grand Master's full title in Latin, separated by pellets and a cross pattée.
