Reverse description The reverse presents a monogrammatic composition consisting of the conjoined letters AT above a large cross pattée, with the letters DM positioned below the crossbar, and the numeral 2 at the base, all contained within a beaded border. The monogram AT stands for Asia Tangas, while DM denotes De Malaca (of Malacca), collectively indicating the denomination and place of issue. The bold, simple arrangement of the monogram and cross is typical of Portuguese colonial hammered silver of the period. The field surrounding the device is plain and unadorned.
