The 2 Taka is a Government of Bangladesh issue, not a Bangladesh Bank note — a distinction that matters. In Bangladesh's monetary architecture, the central bank issues higher denominations while the Ministry of Finance retains authority over the 1 and 2 Taka notes, which is why the watermark text and security thread wording shifted between "BANGLADESH BANK" and "BANGLADESH GOVERNMENT" across printings and caused genuine collector confusion for years.
The thread variants here are particularly fussy. The Akbar Ali Khan 1-1996 and 3-1996 signatures can appear nearly identical, but the thread width differential — "BANGLADESH BANK" threading running fractionally wider than its "BANGLADESH GOVERNMENT" counterpart — is the only reliable distinguishing feature, since the microprint itself is not legibly resolved in either case. The watermark head size on the 3-1996 issues adds a third variable to the same date and signature combination.
