| 正面描述 | The obverse is printed in orange and dark green with a central intaglio vignette of a seated allegorical female figure resting against a chest, holding a lyre, with sailing ships in the background. The bank title BANCO DEL ECUADOR arches across the top in bold letterpress, flanked by large numeral 2 counters on each side within ornate guilloche panels. The note bears the overprint SPECIMEN in red across the signature area, with zero-serial-number prefix K00000 appearing twice, and the imprint of American Bank Note Co. New York at the lower border. |

| 备注 |
Banco del Ecuador was a private commercial bank operating out of Guayaquil, not a central bank — Ecuador had no central bank until the Banco Central del Ecuador was established in 1927. These notes circulated under a plural banking system in which several competing institutions issued their own currency simultaneously, a situation that generated chronic public skepticism about which paper was actually worth taking.
The American Bank Note Company produced this series at a moment when ABNC held near-total dominance over Latin American security printing contracts. The pick reference 156A suggests a signature or date variety within a broader series run, though the distinctions between 156-series variants are primarily useful for distinguishing issuing officer tenures rather than any change in printing specification.
