Obverse description Central field bears a four-line inscription in bold Latin characters reading WEST. / FRISIA / II·STVI· / 1673·, denoting the issuing province, denomination, and date. Above the legend, at the top of the field, appears the arms of West Friesland — a crowned shield bearing three herring fish — flanked on either side by a small rosette or floral ornament. The entire design is enclosed within a toothed or milled border.

Reverse description A rampant lion passant to the left occupies the central field, depicted in high relief with flowing mane, raised forepaws with claws extended, and a curling tail.
