Obverse description Central field displays the abbreviated provincial name GELRIA arranged in three lines across the field, surmounted by a stylized pelican or eagle device flanked by two rosette ornaments. The date 1757 appears in the lower portion of the field in large numerals. The entire design is enclosed within a toothed or milled border running around the full circumference of the flan, characteristic of the hammered coinage of the Dutch Republic provinces.
