Obverse description The province name TRAIECT (Utrecht) is inscribed in two lines across the center of the field, rendered in Latin. The Utrecht city arms — a red shield bearing a silver cross — appear above the inscription, flanked on each side by a small cross. The date is positioned below the inscription. The overall design is characteristic of the Dutch provincial hammered coinage of the mid-seventeenth century, with an irregular flan and no formal border.
