| Obverse description | Three-line Latin inscription arranged across the square klippe flan, with the date 1625 divided below and flanked by the arms of Breda, all contained within a beaded circle. The legend reads BREDA OBSESSA, commemorating the city's besiegement, with the denomination numeral II prominently positioned above. The crude, emergency nature of the striking is evident in the irregular surfaces and uneven distribution of detail across the copper flan. Breda fell to Spinola's Spanish forces in June 1625 after a siege of nearly eleven months — an event famous enough that Velázquez commemorated it in paint a decade later. This copper piece was struck by the besieged city as conventional silver coinage became impossible to source, a practice common to prolonged Dutch sieges of the period. The city's capitulation came just weeks after minting ceased.
