Obverse description Central field occupied by the composite quartered shield of Austria-Burgundy, displaying the arms of Austria, Burgundy, Brabant, and Flanders, surmounted by an ornate imperial crown with prominent arches and fleurs-de-lis. The shield is set within a polylobe or cusped inner circle, a characteristic feature of Burgundian-Habsburg coinage of the early sixteenth century. The heraldic elements are rendered in the bold, late Gothic style typical of hammered silver issues of this period. A circular Latin legend in uncial script runs around the periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border.
