Reverse description A long cross extending to the beaded inner circle divides the field into four quarters; the upper-left quarter contains a small displayed eagle, while the remaining three quarters each bear a group of three pellets arranged in a triangular pattern. A Latin legend in Gothic lettering runs along the outer margin, separated by small cross or star stops. The overall composition is characteristic of the sterling-type reverses produced by Rhenish imperial cities in the fourteenth century.
