2 Speciedaler - Frederik III Type I.A, 5 lines in crown, date outside inner ring

Frederik III had been on the Danish-Norwegian throne less than two years when this piece was struck. The speciedaler series of this reign is complicated by significant die variation — the distinction between Type I.A and other early types rests entirely on internal structural details of the crown's rendering and the placement of the date relative to the inner ring, differences that were almost certainly invisible to anyone spending the coin.

Hede 9A pieces are genuinely scarce. The 1649 date is among the earlier strikes of Frederik's speciedaler production and survivors in collectible condition are infrequently offered.
