Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Frederik III facing right, wearing a laureate wreath and elaborate plate armor with decorative detail. The royal effigy is rendered in high relief in the baroque portrait style typical of mid-17th century Danish coinage. The encircling legend in Latin reads FRIDERICUS·III·DG·DAN·NOR·VA·GOTHOR·REX, identifying the king as Frederik III, by the grace of God King of Denmark, Norway, the Wends, and the Goths. Pellets or stops separate the abbreviated title elements within the outer legend.
