| Obverse description | Crowned draped half-bust effigy of King Christian IV facing right, rendered in high relief, superimposed over an elaborate ornate cartouche bearing the king's name and titles in Latin. The bust alone is enclosed within a rope circle, outside of which the royal motto is inscribed as a surrounding legend. Date numerals appear at the bottom, divided by the lobes of the cartouche, while mintmaster's initials and mintmarks are positioned at the sides of the cartouche. The composition reflects the rich Baroque artistic style prevalent in early seventeenth-century Danish coinage. |

| Reverse description | The Danish royal arms displayed on a long-armed cross, encircled by a ring of thirteen oval provincial shields representing the territories of the Danish realm, all contained within an outer pearled border. The Danish crown surmounts the design, cutting through the pearled circle at the top. Suspended from the lower arm of the cross is the badge of the Order of the Elephant, Denmark's premier chivalric order. The bold heraldic composition, with its radiating arrangement of territorial shields, is characteristic of the ambitious, imperially inspired coinage of Christian IV. |
