背面描述 A multi-layered commemorative composition depicting scenes from the Dover Strait naval theatre of the First World War. In the foreground, a naval officer in uniform is shown in right-facing profile, alongside armed ratings manning what appears to be a deck gun. Behind them, a vessel with visible superstructure is set against a background scene of troops massing on land. The dates 1914 - 1918 arc across the upper field, while the legend DOVER STRAIT curves along the lower portion of the design within the beaded border.

附加信息

The Strait of Dover selection within this commemorative series references the critical naval chokepoint where the Dover Patrol operated from 1914 to 1918, mining the Channel and running continuous anti-submarine operations to prevent German U-boats from accessing the Atlantic shipping lanes. The patrol's success — denying free passage to the majority of U-boats attempting the strait — is frequently overshadowed by the larger Jutland narrative, but the Channel blockade was arguably the more consequential sustained operation of the naval war.

Gibraltar's role as issuer carries a quiet irony: another strait, another chokepoint, a different century.
