Obverse description Draped bust of Louis XVI facing left, bare-headed with hair tied at the nape in a ribbon, occupying the central field of the host coin. The obverse legend reads LOUIS XVI ROI DES FRANÇOIS· encircling the effigy, with the date ·1792· appearing in the exergue. Superimposed upon the host coin's field is a rectangular or star-shaped counterstamp bearing the letter 'G' enclosed within a fifteen-pointed star, applied by colonial authorities in Guadeloupe to validate the coin for local circulation.
