To the left, a portrait vignette of a young indigenous woman is set within an oval frame, while the central vignette presents a classical reclining female allegory amid a landscape. The denomination numeral '2' appears in ornate panels at both left and right, with the text 'LA SUCURSAL EN YQUIQUE DE EL BANCO NACIONAL DEL PERÚ' and 'DOS SOLES' in bold letterpress script across the lower centre, above a promise-to-pay clause in Spanish. |

The Banco Nacional del Perú maintained a branch in Iquique — spelled "Yquique" in period usage — that operated in what was then Peruvian territory. The city passed to Chilean control following the War of the Pacific (1879–1884), and any notes tied to this branch effectively became stranded obligations of a foreign-administered bank operating in occupied territory. The branch's note issues are consequently rare, not because they were well-hoarded but because the political disruption severed normal circulation and redemption channels.
The S-prefix Pick reference confirms provincial issue status rather than Lima head office emission.
