Obverse description Central device depicts the Bolivian coat of arms: two llamas sejant flanking a central palm tree, the whole set within a beaded inner border. Nine six-pointed stars arc above the central device between the llamas and the legend. The circular legend REPUBLICA BOLIVIANA is inscribed along the upper periphery, with the fineness and assayer designations 10 Ds. 20 Gs. flanking the lower portion of the central device. The date and mint assayer initials appear in the lower exergual area, with the year (e.g. 1861) at the base and the assayer initial F to the right.
