| Obverse description | Central device features the crowned Danish royal shield, displaying the three lions passant of Denmark within a baroque cartouche or escutcheon, occupying the majority of the coin's field. A small crown surmounts the shield at the top. The circumferential legend in Latin runs around the periphery, reading FRIDERIC·3·D·G·DAN, identifying King Frederik III by the Grace of God. The strike is characteristic of mid-17th-century Danish hammered coinage, with slightly uneven flan edges and variable die alignment. The overall design is compact and bold, consistent with the Shield type VI series. |
