Additional information

Frederik II's Frederiksborg mint operated for only a handful of years in the 1580s, functioning as a secondary royal facility while the Copenhagen mint handled the bulk of production. Coins struck there carry a distinct mint mark and are meaningfully scarcer than their Copenhagen counterparts — the short operational window guaranteed limited output.

The billon alloy reflects deliberate royal policy: sustained warfare with Sweden during the Northern Seven Years' War had drained Danish silver reserves, and the monetary debasement that followed persisted well into the subsequent reign.
