| Obverse description | A double Tudor rose, comprising an inner and outer row of petals, occupies the central field, surmounted by a royal crown. The rose symbolises the union of the English and Scottish crowns under James VI. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central device, with the Latin legend arranged around the periphery. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, as is characteristic of hammered coinage of this period. |
