| Descrizione del rovescio | The quartered coat of arms of the Union of South Africa occupies the central field, with the four quarters displaying the heraldic emblems of the constituent colonies: the Cape of Good Hope anchor and figure of Hope, the Natal wildebeest, the Orange Free State orange tree, and the Transvaal ox-wagon. The date is divided by the shield, with the first two digits to the left and the last two to the right. The bilingual legend SOUTH·AFRICA SUID·AFRIKA curves around the upper periphery, separated by a decorative ornament at the apex, while the denomination ·2 SHILLINGS· is inscribed along the lower periphery. The designer's initials KG appear below the shield. |
