Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, wearing the Imperial State Crown, modelled by Percy Metcalfe. The king is depicted with a bare neck and truncated bust. The encircling legend reads GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR, arranged around the periphery within a beaded border. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the crown jewels and facial features.

Reverse description A sable antelope, the national symbol of Southern Rhodesia, stands in left profile atop a raised ground line at centre, rendered in fine detail with its distinctive curved horns arching prominently above its body. The date appears in the upper field above the animal. The legend SOUTHERN RHODESIA arcs across the upper periphery, while TWO SHILLINGS is inscribed along the lower periphery. The designer's initials KG appear below the ground line, and the whole design is enclosed within a beaded border.
