| Reverse description | The quartered shield of the Union of South Africa coat of arms dominates the centre of the field, displaying in its four quarters: the Cape of Good Hope arms (anchor and figures), the Natal lion, the Orange Free State orange tree, and the Transvaal ox wagon. The date is divided by the vertical pall of the shield, with the two pairs of digits flanking it at centre. The bilingual circular legend SOUTH AFRICA and SUID-AFRIKA arcs around the upper field, separated by a floral ornament at the apex, while the denomination 2 SHILLINGS appears in the lower legend, with the engraver's initials K and G discreetly placed at the base of the shield. |
