| Obverse description | Obverse trial die featuring the right-facing laureate effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Mary Gillick, with hair gathered and adorned with a wreath of laurel. The truncation of the bust is plain and unadorned. The peripheral legend reads ELIZABETH II REGINA, disposed around the upper and lower fields within a beaded border.
