| Obverse description | Printed entirely in blue on blue paper, the obverse carries the issuer title 'THE STATES OF GUERNSEY' in bold letterpress across the top, with the date '1st January, 1942' below left and a serial number to the right. A central guilloche vignette frames the word 'GUERNSEY' above the promise-to-pay legend, with the denomination 'TWO SHILLINGS AND SIX PENCE' set within a ruled panel. A large red overprinted '2/6' numeral spans the centre, denomination roundels appear at each corner, and the Treasurer's manuscript signature with the title 'TREASURER.' appears at lower right. |

Guernsey's German occupation notes occupy a strange administrative space: issued under British Crown authority by the island's own States, but printed locally under German military oversight after supply lines to the mainland were severed. The 2/6 denomination on blue paper is the scarcest colour variety of P#25, distinguished from the pink and white issues by what was simply available at the time — the island's printers worked with whatever stock remained.
Paper colour was functional, not decorative. Shortages drove everything.
