Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features the State of Israel emblem — a menorah flanked by olive branches above a shield — prominently positioned in the upper field. The central field bears the name of Baron Edmond de Rothschild in large Hebrew characters (הברון אדמונד דה רוטשילד), with the Hebrew year range התר"ה–התרצ"ה and his birth and death years 1845–1934 inscribed below in Latin script. The denomination '2 שקלים' (2 Sheqalim) appears at the bottom of the central field alongside the Arabic legend 'اسرائيل' and the Hebrew mint mark. A continuous circular legend in Hebrew, Latin, and Arabic reads around the periphery, commemorating the centenary of his first settlement activities in Eretz Israel, with 'ISRAEL 1982' and 'CENTENARY OF HIS FIRST SETTLEMENT ACTIVITIES IN ERETZ ISRAEL' completing the border inscription.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a large, finely modeled portrait bust of Baron Edmond de Rothschild facing slightly to the right, rendered in high relief with naturalistic sculptural detail capturing his aged visage, short beard, and informal attire. The bust occupies the majority of the field, conveying a dignified yet approachable likeness. To the lower left of the portrait, the Hebrew inscription 'אבי היישוב' (Father of the Settlement) appears in two lines within the open field. The design is spare and monumental, with no additional border ornamentation, allowing the portrait to dominate the composition.
