| Obverse description | Central cartouche enclosing the mint name Tabriz (تبریز) and the AH date 1129, rendered in flowing Nasta'liq script. The field surrounding the cartouche is filled with floral and foliate arabesques in the characteristic Safavid hammered style. The royal epithet 'Bande-ye Shah-e Velayat Husayn' (Servant of the King of Sainthood, Husayn) appears as the principal legend, affirming the shah's devotional title. The flan is irregular and slightly oval in form, consistent with hand-struck coinage of the period. |
