| Obverse lettering | غلام امام محمد مهدی علیه و آبائه السلام سلطان ابوالمظفر محمد پادشاه بن طهماسب الحسینی خلدالله ملکه ضرب گنجه ۸ ۹۸ |
| Reverse description | The field bears the Shi'ite kalima arranged in multiple lines, opening with the shahada 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ali is the Friend of God.' Beneath follows a continuous litany of the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'a Islam: Ali, Hasan, Husayn, Ali, Muhammad, Ja'far, Musa, Ali, Muhammad, Ali, Hasan, and Muhammad, arranged concentrically across the flan. The inscription fills the entire surface to the edge, with no distinct border or marginal legend. The calligraphy is bold and densely packed, consistent with Safavid 'Muhammadi' coinage of the late sixteenth century. The flan is irregular and slightly concave, typical of hammered production at provincial mints. |
