Reverse description Central field filled with a multi-line Shi'ite kalima and the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'a Islam, inscribed in Naskh/Nasta'liq script. The legend opens with the profession of faith — 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Ali is the Friend of God' — followed by the sequential enumeration of all twelve Imams from Ali ibn Abi Talib through to Muhammad al-Mahdi. The inscription is densely packed across the irregular flan in multiple registers. This reverse type is characteristic of Safavid silver coinage and served as a declaration of the dynasty's Twelver Shi'a identity. The strike is typical of hammered production, showing slight weakness at the flan edges.
