Reverse description Hammered silver reverse of irregular oval form, displaying the Shi'a kalima in multi-line Arabic naskh script prominently across the central field, enclosed within a dotted inner border. The shahada reads 'There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, Ali is the Friend of Allah,' asserting the Twelver Shi'a creed that became a defining feature of Safavid coinage from the dynasty's foundation. A secondary marginal legend runs along the outer border, partially lost at the flan edges. The engraving is robust and characteristic of early sixteenth-century Safavid die-cutting, with intertwined letterforms and confident calligraphic execution.
