| Obverse description | The entire field is occupied by a multi-line Shi'a kalima legend executed in bold thuluth script, arranged in stacked horizontal registers within a central cartouche. The shahada and the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'ism are inscribed in sequence across the field, forming a dense, calligraphic composition characteristic of Safavid hammered coinage. A circular border legend runs along the outer rim, also in thuluth script, enclosing the central inscription. The flan is notably irregular in outline, as is typical of hand-struck Safavid silver issues of this period. The overall style reflects the refined Persian calligraphic tradition employed on royal Safavid coinage. |
