| Obverse description | Bare-headed, armored bust of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V facing right, depicted in a bold and roughly executed hammered style typical of mid-sixteenth-century Neapolitan coinage. The emperor is shown with a prominent beard and wearing plate armor over the shoulders. The circular Latin legend reads CAROLVS·V·ROM·IMP· with the mintmaster letter A positioned in the lower left field. The portrait fills the coin's field with little inner border detail, consistent with the hand-struck technique of the period. |
