Reverse description The central field presents a detailed depiction of the Kashihara Jingu Shinto shrine in Nara Prefecture, Japan, rendered in a precise architectural engraving style showing the shrine's principal hall and its extended ceremonial corridor or covered walkway. Four Japanese kanji characters (橿原神宮, meaning Kashihara Jingu) are prominently inscribed above the shrine's roofline, with the Rome Mint mark R at the top of the field. The legend TEMPIO SHINTO KASHIHARA REGIONE DI NARA arcs along the upper periphery, while AMICIZIA NIPPO-SAMMMARINESE curves along the lower periphery. The denomination 2 SCUDI appears centrally in the lower field, flanked by the dates 660 a.c. and 301 d.c., referencing the legendary founding date of Japan and the founding of San Marino respectively, and the engraver's signature COLANERI is inscribed in the lower central field.
