John Albert II ruled Mecklenburg-Güstrow from 1611 until his death in 1636, but the brief window of this issue — 1614 to 1618 — coincides with the duchy's relative fiscal stability before the Thirty Years' War dismantled the region entirely. Mecklenburg would become one of the most devastated territories of that conflict; by the early 1620s, regular silver coinage production was increasingly disrupted by military occupation and the imperial administration imposed by Wallenstein in 1628.
Kunkel 469 is a scarce type with limited die study documentation compared to the broader Mecklenburg series.
