Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of Duke William II of Jülich, crowned and enthroned, holding a sceptre in his right hand; to his left, a shield bearing the lion of Jülich. The figure is rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of 14th-century Rhenish groschen coinage. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the ducal title legend running in the outer field.
