正面描述 Quartered heraldic shield displaying the combined arms of the Bishopric of Münster and the Bishopric of Paderborn, surmounted by an ornate episcopal crown. The numeral 14 appears at the base of the shield, denoting the coin's value as a 1/14 Thaler. The mint initials JW (for engraver Johann Willerding) are present in the field. The date 1711 is split across the sides of the shield. The surrounding legend reads FRANC.ARNO.14 DG.EP.MO & PA, identifying Bishop Franz Arnold von Wolff-Metternich as ruler of Münster and Paderborn by the grace of God.

附加信息

Francis Arnold of Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht ruled the Bishopric of Münster from 1707 until his death in 1718, a tenure defined largely by the aftermath of the War of the Spanish Succession and the financial strain it imposed on Westphalian ecclesiastical territories. Small silver divisionary coinage of this period was minted erratically, and the 1711 date falls within a window of monetary reorganization across the Holy Roman Empire following the Reichsmünzfuß adjustments of the early eighteenth century. Schulze 182 is not among the more commonly traded varieties of this short episcopate.
