Obverse description Central device depicts the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, rendered in fine relief with three lions passant gardant atop an abacus bearing a central Dharma Chakra flanked by a bull and a horse. The motto सत्यमेव जयते (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') appears in Devanagari script immediately below the emblem. The country name is inscribed along the upper periphery in Devanagari (भारत) to the left and Latin (INDIA) to the right, while the denomination 2 RUPEES in Latin numerals and script appears prominently in the lower field, with रुपये (Rupees) in Devanagari to the lower left.
