The 2010 Commonwealth Games were the first held in India and only the second in Asia, but the lead-up was marked by severe organizational failures — incomplete venues, a collapsed footbridge at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium just days before the opening, and a dengue fever outbreak that prompted several athlete delegations to initially refuse accommodation in the athletes' village.
