| 裏面の説明 | Printed in red-brown, the reverse is dominated by a circular vignette at left showing a tiger bust in three-quarter view facing left, set within an ornate frame. To the right of the vignette, the denomination is rendered in eight regional Indian languages arranged in a central panel, with the Reserve Bank of India seal below. The denomination in English, TWO RUPEES, appears in large letterpress type at the bottom left, flanked by decorative floral corner motifs. |

The 2 Rupee note was one of the first issues produced under the Reserve Bank of India following independence, replacing the earlier Government of India series that had carried the portrait of George VI. The RBI had technically been in existence since 1935, but the post-1947 rupee notes required a deliberate break in visual language — the King's image removed, the new national identity still being negotiated in the design committees.
Pick 27 runs across a long sequence of signature varieties, making signature attribution the primary collecting variable for this issue. At least seven different signing officials appear across the series, and misidentification is common in dealer lots.
