| Additional information |
Part of the Bank of Russia's ongoing zodiac series, this issue belongs to a run of twelve coins that collectively drew more collector attention than most Russian commemorative programs of the 2000s — partly because the series was released incrementally, one sign per year, compelling sequential acquisition. The Taurus piece was struck at the Saint Petersburg Mint (SPMD), which handled the bulk of Russia's silver commemorative output during this period.
Mintage for individual zodiac issues in this series was capped at 10,000 pieces.
