附加信息

St. Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk is among the oldest stone structures in the former Soviet space, with its earliest construction dating to the mid-11th century under Vseslav of Polotsk — the same prince later immortalized in the Tale of Igor's Campaign. The current Baroque structure is an 18th-century rebuild after Swedish forces used the original medieval cathedral as a powder magazine, which subsequently exploded during the Great Northern War.

Belarus has issued a sustained series of bimetallic circulation commemoratives pairing regional architectural heritage with everyday denominations, of which this is one entry.
